Networks for environmental impact optimisation

What is CNIT contribution:

 

The University of Florence Research Unit of the Interuniversity National Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT-Unifi) is currently dealing with the definition of the network for the environmental impact optimization which must encompass sensors for temperature, humidity and the presence of ice. The feasibility of pollution monitoring sub-network will also be studied. The environmental monitoring subsystem will be characterized by self-diagnosis ability, by the capability of issuing punctual or general alarms depending on the parameters under examination and by a high degree of adaptability.

The objectives of monitoring the presence of ice on the runway and the taxyways and controlling the pollutant and noise emissions in the surroundings of the airport are to be distinguished: in particular, the ice sensor should be sufficiently dense, introduce low latencies and provide a bidirectional data flow with the control center whereas on the contrary the control network of the emissions may be formed by few stations located in the surroundings of the airport and acquire data with a long sampling time.

The basic architecture of the subnet emission control is shown in Figure 01.
